The Culture of My Country

                                   中 国
                                                CHINA

This is my poster that is some specific pictures of my country's culture. I choose those pictures because I like them, and they embody the history and culture of my country as well.

One of the Chinese Horoscopes is Dragon which is a symbol of power, strength, and good luck. With this, the Emperor of China usually used the dragon as a sign of his imperial power. Sometimes, we named us “Descendants of the Dragon” as a sign of ethnic identity.

The Great Wall of China is the greatest human civilization construction. And it’s one of the Seven Wonders of the World. In history, the Great wall used to defend foreign aggression.

Terra Cotta Warriors were the armies of Qin Shi Huang who is the first Emperor of China. Terra Cotta Warriors and the horses were buried with the dead of Qin whose purpose was to protect the emperor in his afterlife, and to make sure that he had slaves to rule over.

Lion Dance is a form of traditional dance in Chinese culture. However, the lion dance is often mistakenly referred to dragon dance. You can separate them by the number of people.
The lion dance had started since thousand years ago in China. It used to celebrate the rarely activities or Lantern Festival; it’s also our country outstanding folk art. “Cai Qing” is one part of the Lion Dance, it means lucky and bring money into your house.

  1. Hi Jasmine

I think the Terracota Warriors is an amazing encounter in the history of China and how the emperors were buried with her warriors and slaves. I am very interested to know more about your traditions. Do you know more about how many people were buried with this emperor and how did they feel about it? Were they proud for died and be with his emperor?

    See you in class :)

    1. Hi,Monica,
I am sorry I cannot reply you in time.
Terra Cotta Warriors and the horses were buried with the Qin's dead, but they are not live, Qin just uses pottery figurine to buried with him in order to "protect" and accompany with him in the other world. In the history of China, before Qin, there were several emperors used live people to bury with them when they died. The meaning is the same as Qin.I think when they were dead for burying, they had no choice, but for the emperors, they consisdered that they should be prond of that.
Hope you understand and have a good day.

  2. Hi Jasmine!
    I really like your poster.
The description of your country is very clear, and I would like to know more about the "dragon". Why is it considered the strongest sign in china? Where does it come from?
