When i went to make my classes i chose the Pop-culture class without even getting a small idea what i'm going to be studying. In these 5 weeks I've learned a lot about different cultures and how important a culture is. I've learned how a culture is like an ID for a person. I've also learned how America used to be a melting pot and how it now became a salad bowel, which is a wonderful thing. I think its wonderful because in this way people would remain with their cultures also people would become familiar with other cultures around the world without traveling to every place. we also learned about different songs and singers from old days and their songs had a meaning and an aim that they wanted to reach and i guess they did reach it.I think this is a great class and every student should take it. yes we read lots of hard readings but we still learn a lot of new things every time we read.

Palestine
Palestine is a country that connects the three continents Asia, Africa and Europe together. Palestine turns out to be a country that has a great culture starting with both maps for Palestine and America than i had the flag for each country. after that i talked about food. I've chosen the popular Palestinian dish which is called "Mansaf". Mansaf is a dish made of lamb cooked in a sauce of fermented dried yogurt and served with rice. In my poster i mentioned Knafa is the Palestinian sweet. I picked Knafa because Palestine is very popular in making Knafa especially Nablus city. Jumping to popular Palestinian people or personalities that effected me in my life first the one is the first Palestinian president. He made lots of things to get peace for Palestine and Israel but sad thing that he died on Nov 11,2004. Another person was Mahmoud Darwish was a popular Palestinian poet. Most of his poetries were about love and war over Palestine. Then i had my favorite singer and my favorite Palestinian dress. I mentioned the american fashion and makeup trends because we don't really find the good trends in Palestine. I also mentioned the fast food because in Palestine you wont really find people who eat fast food as their lunch meal. Palestinians like home made food more than fast food.

But we can get along with each other. We can introduce ourselves and the traditional culture of our hometown. We can learn more information of different life ways. And the teacher is nice and smart. She can make some assignments to help us to learn more about the culture of America and let us understand the meaning of the culture diversity.

Indonesian Culture
Unity in Diversity, the national motto of Indonesia, is a term that strikes deep into the heart of this dynamic and attractive Southeast Asian nation. Few places offer such cultural variety and geographical complexity as Indonesia, and no two journeys here are ever alike.
For over a century, visitors have been drawn to the legend of Bali, guests from all over the world received a warm Balinese welcome. With Balinese culture prizing tolerance, tranquility and respect for each other and their guests. Bali is land of incredible contrast, offering something for everyone. It's a gorgeous, glittering tropical rave, where day turns into night, and night back into day with barely a pause for breath.
The magnificent Borobudur temple is the world’s biggest Buddhist monument, an ancient site widely considered to be one of the world’s seven wonders. This awe inspiring monument is truly a marvel. After a visit here you will understand why it is Indonesia’s most visited tourist attraction and a famous icon of Indonesia’s cultural heritage.
West Papua is home to the most ethnologically primitive cultures on Earth. No less than 25% of the world's languages are spoken here and obviously you will find a vast display of tribes and tribal customs. These are people largely unaffected by the strictures of the modern world as we know it; a race adapted to daily life solely through their basic survival elements.

Learning Pop culture is really Useful :)
Popular culture is really useful for every body because we learn about behave and culture other people in the World . Pop culture the entirety of ideas , Pop refers more specifically to something containing qualities of mass appeal, while "popular" refers to what has gained popularity, regardless of its stylePopular culture changes constantly and occurs uniquely in place and time .Many cultural critics have dismissed this as merely a symptom or side-effect of mass consumerism .
I think this class help me about other culture and I learn new things from my classmate , It is reaaly interesting :)
IRAN was the world the became the third :(
Iran is home to one of the world's oldest civilization. The first dynasty in Iran formed during the Elamite kingdom in 2800 BC. The Iranian Medes unified Iran into an empire in 625 BC .The name of Iran (ایران) is the Modern Persian derivative from the Proto- Iranian term Aryana , meaning "Land of the Aryans", first attested in Zoroastrianism's Avesta tradition .Tuesday, September 25, 2012
Wrap Up- American Cultural Diversity
From this class , I learned that American culture is unique because it is nurtured, formed and developed under certain conditions, which are characteristically American. The major factors contributing to the making of this nation and the forming of a new culture are the hard environment, ethnic diversity and plural religion, which is quite different from other nations in the world. What is more, these elements are still influencing the American culture.
America is a country with multiple ethnic groups and cultures. People learn from each other and cultures also evolve and change with the development of the society. Therefore America is sometimes considered as a melting-pot. However some people disagree and thinks different cultures in the society still keep their own identities and therefore it is more of a salad bowl than melting pot.
The salad bowl concept suggests that the integration of the many different cultures of United States residents combine like a salad, as opposed to the more prolific notion of a cultural melting pot. In the salad bowl model, various American cultures are juxtaposed — like salad ingredients — but do not merge together into a single homogeneous culture. Each culture keeps its own distinct qualities. This idea proposes a society of many individual, "pure" cultures, and the term has become more politically correct than melting pot, since the latter suggests that ethnic groups may be unable to preserve their cultures. The salad bowl has been accused of being a communitarianist model, while supporters of it speak of multiculturalism.
I am very interested in American culture, I wonder to learn more about it from this class.
From learning Pop-culture has already started to five weeks time. Even though I still do not understand all completely of this course, I probably already know this course will let us know what contents. Pop culture is seen as what is considered “cool” at the moment in time, and carries no long-term effects on society or culture as a whole. We can learn
something about the Culture change, including to music, media, people, and life. I like this class because culture always change quickly, and as a people live in nowadays who has to follow the popular culture.
Pop Culture (Bella)
I like
Pop Culture, because it let me learn more different cultures about the world.
On the other hand, I confused about Pop Culture this class, because I don’t
know what I got in this class at last, but it looks like I got many things. I
think that is Pop Culture. You read many readings, you know the words, but you
need to know the deep meaning. I like the way to listening a song and then learn
the song. Through the song to learn the culture and got the real meaning, that
is interest. This way is let me feeling good, I can listen the song, I think
the power in the music is strong, especially the old music. The old music is more
to be able to reflect life. I believe I can learn more in this class.
In last 5 week unit i learned many things about culture, religion, tradition etc.but the i learned about different culture every country has different pretty culture.but the Culture is one of the most important and basic concepts of sociology. In sociology culture has a specific meaning. The anthropologists believe that the behavior which is meant is called culture. In other words the behavior which is transmitted to us by some one is called culture. The way of living, eating, wearing, singing, dancing and talking are all parts of a culture. In common parlance, the word culture, is understood to mean beautiful, refined or interesting. Culture is the very important for your life because you can recognize your background and ethnic.and you can teach your new generation.

Chinese Paper-Cut
Paper-cut is a very distinctive visual art of Chinese handicrafts. The kind of art went after the invention of paper in Han Dynasty, once became one of the main form of arts, and was popular to the people of the time. When I was a child , my aunt taught me how to make a paper cut. No doubt that arts come from life and serve life. The bright colors of red papercuts provide a strong foil to set off a merry atmosphere. So they are often found in wedding ceremonies or festivals in China. I am so proud of my country people, because they always make the amazing art just with some simple tools.

Diversity in the U.S.
What I liked the most on this unit was about
the diversity that there is in this country. When I first came to the U.S. I was
really amazed to see different people from all over the world. Before coming to
the U.S., I used to think that this country belong only to white people, but as
time was passing I realized that that is not the real meaning; this country is
the country of immigration. It doesn’t matter where we are from and the language we speak, we all
together share the same thing; we came to the U.S. to have a better life and we
all deserve the chance to accomplish that.
Same World
There are many different cultures in the world. We can keep our own cultures, but we live in the same world. All of us form a group, so we need to get together. We can share our cultures to get to know each other, but we cannot separate because of the diversity of cultures. We need to create and keep the same world together forever.
The World as one
THE WORLD AS ONE
We should see ourselves as one either African, American, Asian, European etc..Unite the world as one We can conquer anything when we put our heart's and soul's into it together. we should always consider ourselves as a free spirit with a gypsy soul, surrendering to where ever life takes us after-all we are all creations of God and human beings whether black or white, and there should be no racism or discrimination because of the colour of our skin because we are one and we should all unite together
warp-up
I
read several reading in this unit, some from the textbook, some from Michal.
Even they used different example, talked about different event. They had the
similar main idea, and I learned these main ideas during past 4 weeks. I know
America is a place that includes many different country cultures. The culture difference
between people has changed. People understand others more and more today.
Globalization vs Americanization
the image at the top make me understand the aspect of Globalization and Americanization because show the concept of people coming together from different part of the world, joining hands together to form one nation.
the image show that people from different country and different race join hands together to make a better world and also it make me change my opinion about how things are changing compare to back then in the olden days.
Spread Knowledge
Spread Knowledge
During these weeks, when I was in pop culture class, I did
several readings about different culture. Actually, those readings are long and
difficult for me because of endless vocabularies, but Ireally learn much
knowledge and cultural identity from the readings. Doing the cultural identity
poster of the country is my favorite. I can rediscover much knowledge and
culture of my country after doing the cultural identity research and learn more
details of our culture. I can spread the culture and history of my country to
my teacher and classmates through the pictures and the explanations. I also realize
the different and special culture of our classmates who come from other
countries. Those posters can also expand my knowledge.
Cultural identity
Korea cultural is emphasizing culture. The characteristics of Korean culture of traditional culture have affected Korean cultural policy by providing a rationale for cultural identity as a policy factor. All presidents have stressed the importance of Korean traditional culture as lying at the heart of cultural identity. It is possible to assume that characteristics of Korean traditional culture still remain, to a certain degree, influential up on the setting of cultural policy objectivities during the period extending from 1945 to the present day. Korean government sought to mobilize the characteristics of traditional culture as a means of establishing social and ethic cohesion and ultimately of cultural identity, which was the driving force of economic development. Furthermore traditional culture emphasizing spiritual culture has also been regarded as a cure for alleviating the conflicts of living in a commodity based eecnomy.
Tracy CHen
Cultural is important thing that every country must have it. We all stay in world , but we are in different places. We all share different cultural together and we all love each other. We speak different language, but we still can feel the love between us. Every country have their own cultural style. We wish that our country to be peaceful. We wish that our people to be health. We all love each other just because we are big group family.
Wrap Up-- Cultural Identity
Every country has its own cultural identity. It shows us the world's cultural diversity. Nowadays, development is more and more advanced, we can know others countries easily. No matter who are you, where are you from, we can share our culture to you if you want it. Though we can accept others countries' culture, we still have to keep our own country's characteristics. That is the only way you know "who am I?"

MY MEXICO
Mexico is the country that I came
from, but I’m originally from Jalilsco State. Jalisco, officially Free and Sovereign State of Jalisco, is one of the 31
states which, with the Federal District. It is located in Western
Mexico and divided in 125 municipalities and its capital city is
Guadalajara. It is one of the more
important states in Mexico because of its natural resources as well as its
history. Many of the characteristic traits of Mexican
culture, particularly outside Mexico, are originally from Jalisco,
such as mariachi,
ranchera
music, tequila,
jaripeo,
etc. Economically, it is ranked third in the country, with industries centered
in the Guadalajara metropolitan area, the second
largest metropolitan area in Mexico. The state is home to two significant
indigenous populations, the Huichols
and the Nahuas. There is also a significant foreign
population, mostly retirees from the United States and Canada, living in the Lake Chapala
and Puerto Vallarta areas.
I chose to President Barack Obama
because he has been a really good president. As a latino, Obama means a lot to
me. Even though he has tried to make The Immigration Reform a reality, he hasn’t
been able. However, I know that one day all latinos in this country will be
free to work, to live and to have a better life.
This brave man is very important
in the Mexico history. When he was alive, he fought for the rights of the poor
and Indian people that were treated as slaves, and on September 15, 1810, he
formed an army with all these people and fight to the Spanish army; it was a
difficult battle, but in the end they ended up victorious. Ever since, every year
on September 15, we Mexicans celebrate our Independency.
The Virgin of Guadalupe is the
most important woman for all Catholic Mexicans.
As you can see she is not all dressed up, on the contrary, she is
wearing typical clothing that Indians from Mexico wear. She was a very humble
lady and this is why all Mexican love her so much and every time we are going
through difficult times, we go where she is and tell our prayers to her with
the certainty that she will hear us.
Chinese Hakka enclose dregon house (Bella)
In Chinese history, the Hakka people have undergone five massive migrations. In the
Eastern Jin Dynasty, they moved from the Central Plain to the southeast coastal
region and were called "Hekka."
A
house usually holds several dozen to a hundred families. Between the buildings
are courtyards where residents dry things on sunny days, drain water on rainy
days, or hold outdoor activities. In case of fire, the lanes around the walls
and the courtyards help to prevent the fire from spreading.
On the other
hand, in some traditional festival, every family will do some special food to
bring together and enjoy it together. They think other family’s food away
better than they did.
The ancestral
hall is the heart of a house. On festivals, families make sacrificial offerings
to their ancestors. Anyone from the family who comes home from far away or is
going to marry must go to the ancestral hall to pay respects to their
forefathers.
They retain their own language, culture, rites
and customs. Isolated by the high mountains, they did not have much contact
with local inhabitants. As a result, they have their own unique customs
That is
Chinese Hakka, welcome to China and welcome to Hakkas enclose dragon house.
